Modern Church leader

Hey, friends!

I’m thrilled for you to meet Matt Morrison.

Matt is the driver behind launching Tithe.ly Sites, and the teams he works with are building new products and making BIG updates you’re going to love.

Matt’s passion for equipping the Church with digital tools is arguably unrivaled.

This isn’t only evident in the joy, vision, and expertise he offers—it’s reflected in his calendar too. It took me forever to score a few minutes of his time to finish this interview. 😁

Without further ado, meet Matt.

I know you’d enjoy meeting him in person and you’ll love what he’s working on.

How did you get started at Tithe.ly? *

Our team at Ascend was acquired by Tithely during the spring of 2019. We are now the team behind Tithely Sites—a church website builder.

What does a typical day at Tithe.ly look like for you? *

I oversee all aspects of what makes Tithely Sites run from developing new features, supporting customers, and looking forward to what churches need to have an amazing website. My day is typically a mix of connecting with developers, support staff, and customers.

What's something a lot of people don't know about you? *

I have a passion for lawn and garden irrigation. I installed irrigation for four summers after graduating from high school and enjoyed every minute of it. I loved working outdoors and getting to design great watering systems. One day, when I retire, it is my hope to return to this passion. What ... this isn't strange at all?

Not including Tithe.ly (shameless plug), what is one must-use app or tool for church leaders? *

Unsplash.com, and it's free! Amazing collection of high-quality images your church can use for images in all aspects of communications.

What’s your definition of success?

Creating something that makes customers’ lives easier.

What’s the best part about working at Tithely?

The team.

I have never worked with such an amazing group of people.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned at Tithe.ly?

When you surround yourself with amazing people, it allows you to focus on the things you do best.

Who is a role model that you look up to?

Dan Irmler.

No explanation needed.

He's a unicorn.

What’s your favorite book?

Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek

If you could give your 18 year-old self a piece of advice, what would it be?

Focus on building one thing and invest in that.

(Your wife will help you do this eight years later—but you'll be way better off if you start now!)

What’s your favorite story of how Tithe.ly served a church?

We are new to the Tithely team, but I find it amazing that we referred 150 churches to Tithely and never heard a single complaint. This team is amazing at serving churches!

How did you become a Christian?

I grew up in a Christian family and always loved going to church, but in my early 20's the rubber hit the road and I really had to decide if my faith would be my own. Despite having "prayed the prayer" 15 years earlier, that was when I really decided that I would follow Jesus to end.

How did you find out about Tithe.ly?

Frank Barry and I met in 2016, shortly after Tithely started. We were on the hunt for great online giving solutions for churches that would compliment our website platform.

What are the top 5 songs on your personal Spotify playlist? (No fibbing)

Not a Spotify or music guy. I know ... savage. Only Podcasts and Audible books for me.

What Bible verse has helped you through tough times?

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul." Psalm 23: 1-2

What’s your favorite movie trilogy?

The Bourne Identity

What’s your favorite board game?

Cranium

What’s your favorite part of your job?

Equipping churches with tools that allow them to reach more people for Jesus. Can't get enough of it.

When did you realize Tithe.ly would be an epic place to work?

When I met the team this past spring. Love at first sight.
