I'm Frank Barry, COO and a founding team member at Tithe.ly. It's fantastic to have the opportunity to connect with you today. Allow me to provide you with some information about myself. I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was born in 1978 and raised by a single mom alongside my half-sister and three half-brothers. My mom was an amazing woman who raised us to be great human beings. Although I didn't attend church during my upbringing, I occasionally accompanied my dad when I visited him. However, religion wasn't a significant part of my life, and I didn't identify as a Christian or have exposure to Scripture or teachings of God's Word within my family.

Fast-forward to my junior year of college when I relocated to San Diego, California. Prior to that, I spent some time in Palm Desert. The move to San Diego was prompted by my girlfriend at the time, who had grown up attending church. Upon arriving in San Diego, she sought a church community and was invited by some girls in the dorms. Since we were dating, she encouraged me to join her, and I vividly recall my first church service at the same church I still attend today.

The church was incredibly welcoming, with numerous individuals greeting me warmly, offering hugs, and a vibrant community of college students. It boasted a sizable college ministry. Over the course of a few months, as I delved into Bible studies, attended church services, engaged in fellowship with other Christians, and experienced the love of those around me, I reached a decision: "Hey, I need to follow Jesus." It was in that moment, back in March of 1999, that I made the commitment. Interestingly, my girlfriend at the time also chose to follow Jesus. We subsequently separated for a period to focus on aligning our lives with God's will, marking the beginning of our respective journeys.

During my remaining years in college, I found tremendous inspiration in the college ministry. I remember thinking, "I would love to pursue full-time ministry after graduation." Having obtained my computer science degree from San Diego State University, I felt a calling to serve in ministry. Providentially, everything fell into place, and I served as a youth minister for five fulfilling years. My wife and I worked together in ministry—while I served full-time, she pursued a secular job. However, after about five years, we recognized that full-time ministry no longer suited our family. I transitioned to a technology company in the nonprofit sector, where I utilized my technical background. Over time, I had the privilege of working with various Christian ministries and church organizations, such as Charles Stanley Ministries, In Touch Ministries, the Methodist church, and Peacemaker Ministries.

I spent approximately 13 years at that company, which ignited my passion for technology and serving the church and ministries. It was through this journey that I connected with Dean Sweetman, Barn Sweetman, and Steve Klein, culminating in the establishment of Tithe.ly. Our shared passion for utilizing technology to serve churches and ministries drove us forward. Serving churches with technology consistently resurfaced as a central theme in my life and work. Consequently, after working professionally for 13 years post-college, launching Tithe.ly felt like the natural next step.

Today, Tithe.ly has evolved into a SaaS (Software as a Service) and Payments Software Platform, catering to approximately 11,000 churches. Every day, we are filled with anticipation, contemplating what lies ahead. We ponder questions like, "What can we create next?" "How can we develop new tools, introduce additional features, serve more churches, and expand into new countries?" We also reflect on how we can grow our team, bringing aboard individuals who share our passion

It has been an incredible journey, and I absolutely love what we do at Tithe.ly. I genuinely believe that we are making a significant impact on churches by offering exceptional products. These are the kind of products that are typically accessible only in the for-profit world, but we are providing them to churches and nonprofits at unbeatable price points. Our main goal has always been to make Tithe.ly super affordable, ensuring that even the average church plant can have access to amazing technology without exorbitant costs or subpar solutions. In that sense, Tithe.ly serves as a ministry in many ways.

At Tithe.ly, we are fortunate to have a wonderful team of friends and exceptional individuals. It truly feels like a big family and a place we can call home. From the very beginning, we made it a priority to cultivate a healthy relational culture within Tithe.ly's fabric. When Dean, his son Barn, myself, and Steve came together, we formed a bond and committed to embark on this journey together. Over the years, our relationships have grown stronger, and we genuinely enjoy working with each other. Despite being geographically dispersed, we find ways to connect and cherish spending time together.

When it comes to hiring new team members, we prioritize relationships. We seek individuals whom we can trust, respect, and who share our passion for the church, technology, and the dynamic nature of a remote startup like Tithe.ly. This approach has attracted a specific kind of person—one who puts God and the church above all, who has a passion for technology, and who thrives in the fast-paced, ever-evolving startup world.

Although we are now five years into this journey and may be considered less of a startup, we have consistently attracted individuals who possess those qualities. Each hiring decision has required a tremendous amount of trust and respect, and our team members bring their own passion for the local church and their personal involvement into the company. This passion is not something we need to create—it already exists within our employees. It is a gift from God, as He is the one who ignites the passion for His church. Our team members often express their amazement at the nature of their jobs when describing them to friends. The idea of being able to work remotely from anywhere they want leaves their friends' minds blown. They get to work with an exceptional group of people, many of whom are friends or even family members. They have the privilege of serving churches and engaging with pastors. Our sales team often shares their excitement at speaking with 20, 30, 40, or even 50 pastors in a single day. It is truly an extraordinary role, whether it be in sales, customer support, or customer success.

We have attracted talented individuals who not only possess a deep love for the church and technology but also resonate with the family-oriented nature of our company. Working at Tithe.ly is a unique experience that allows them to combine their passion for the church with their professional endeavors.
