The Kingdom of God: Ending the Sacred-Secular Divide
The Kingdom of God and the end of the sacred secular divide.
I steward a company called Flō Energy Solutions Inc. and a ministry called M46. In terms of the kingdom, they are both holy to God. At Flō, we operate as a kingdom company, honoring God's principles, including prayer in our daily agenda. As we acknowledge there is no sacred-secular divide, we have paid staff who are prophetic intercessors. One of them is named Chantal.
Chantal joined Flō in 2016 and has served as a Prayer Team Leader since 2019. Our prayer team intercedes for Flō, its team members, customers, and beyond. Chantal has been instrumental in encouraging and facilitating spiritual growth among individuals and sharing biblical truths and wisdom.
Before her tenure at Flō, Chantal worked as a Worship Leader at a House of Prayer for over a decade. Her dedication to God, humility, spiritual giftings, ability to love and serve others well, along with her persistence makes her perfectly suited for her role. In this capacity, she helps build, strengthen, and equip people to fulfill their calling and flourish in life effectively.
The End of the Sacred-Secular Divide
YAHWEH has established His throne in heaven; His kingdom rules the entire universe. (Psalm 103:19, TPT)
The kingdom of God has arrived! The gospel of the kingdom encompasses everything that exists and reigns supreme for now and all of eternity. In God’s kingdom, there is no sacred (spiritual)-secular (non-spiritual) divide. Treating everything we do as sacred allows us to express our love for God and others in all that we do. From our union with Jesus and His kingdom, we join in God’s mission to save the world unto the restoration of all things. As sons and daughters of the King, we are designed to rule and reign in all areas of our lives. Remember, love is the ultimate mark of maturity in the kingdom. Love is our one command from Jesus.
The Kingdom Encompasses All: The Supremacy of Jesus Christ
He is the divine portrait, the true likeness of the invisible God, and the firstborn heir of all creation. For in Him was created the universe of things, both in the heavenly realm and on the earth, all that is seen and all that is unseen. Every seat of power, realm of government, principality, and authority—it all exists through Him and for His purpose! He existed before anything was made, and now everything finds completion in Him. (Colossians 1:15-17, TPT)
The kingdom of God encompasses all creation, seen and unseen. It is through Him that all things hold together, and His kingdom is established in every realm of existence, from the least to the greatest. It is all important to God!
A Royal Priesthood
But you are God’s chosen treasure—priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience His marvelous light, and now He claims you as His very own. He did this so that you would broadcast His glorious wonders throughout the world. (1 Peter 2:9, TPT)
There is no such thing as “lay” people in the Bible. Rather, we are called “saints of God” or “holy ones.” As such, everything we do is holy, spiritual, and important to God and His kingdom! We are created to live Spirit-led lives with full access to heaven to expand His kingdom on the earth. As we abide, we are naturally spirit-led, listening and talking to God in ALL that we do. Knowing our work, family, and all of life is holy keeps us connected to Jesus and His kingdom throughout our days.
Whether you eat or drink, live your life in a way that glorifies and honors God. (1 Corinthians 10:31, TPT)
Let every activity of your lives and every word that comes from your lips be drenched with the beauty of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. (Colossians 3:17, TPT)
Putting Heart and Soul into Every Activity
Put your heart and soul into every activity you do, as though you are doing it for the Lord Himself and not merely for others. (Colossians 3:23, TPT)
Have you forgotten that your body is now the sacred temple of the Spirit of Holiness, who lives in you? You don’t belong to yourself any longer, for the gift of God, the Holy Spirit, lives inside your sanctuary. You were God’s expensive purchase, paid for with tears of blood, so by all means, then, use your body to bring glory to God! (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, TPT)
Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? To surrender yourselves to God to be His sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights His heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship. (Romans 12:1, TPT)
Our body is a living sacrifice; therefore, ALL we do is holy. Our body is not our own; it belongs to Jesus. Therefore, EVERYTHING that we do is holy and an opportunity to worship! With typical church-style worship, there is a natural euphoria, which can make the natural day-to-day appear less holy because of how we may feel singing certain songs with dim lighting. However, everything we do is a unique opportunity and form of worship. We are to live by faith. We are not to live only based on what we see or feel. Faith is the currency of the kingdom!
Our work and actions are done for the glory of God, reflecting His kingdom in every aspect of life. We understand that our bodies and actions are holy and significant in God's kingdom.
Our Identity in Christ
It is through Him that we live and function and have our identity; just as your own poets have said, ‘Our lineage comes from Him. (Acts 17:28, TPT)
He raised us up with Christ the exalted One, and we ascended with Him into the glorious perfection and authority of the heavenly realm, for we are now co-seated as one with Christ! (Ephesians 2:6, TPT)
Right now, we live, move, and have our being in Him! We are bi-located in two places: the spiritual realm and the natural realm. We are multidimensional; our spirit is in the heavenly realms, and our bodies are in the natural realm. We are born from above to bring heaven to earth!
Life in God’s Kingdom: A Holy Calling
Our bodies are not our own. We have been bought with a price. We are now the holy of holies. Our hands are now the hands of Jesus. How will we use them? Our feet are the feet of Jesus. Where will we go? Our eyes are the eyes of Jesus. What will we gaze upon? Our ears are the ears of Jesus. What will we listen to?
Recognize that there is no divide between the sacred and the secular in our lives. Every aspect of our existence is an opportunity to glorify God and advance His kingdom. This includes our daily tasks, quiet time, marriage, children, family, work, community, friendships, church, etc. Embrace our identity as a royal priesthood and live every moment with purpose and devotion unto the Lord. Do everything with a heart of excellence. Let our lives be a continuous act of worship, acknowledging that Christ lives in our lives, and everything we do is holy. Together, let’s advance His kingdom and subdue the earth by discipling the nations. Remember, even the smallest act of kindness is an act of discipling the nations!
It is no longer we who live but Christ who lives in us. It is all holy. It is all spiritual. Everything matters. Let's make earth as it is in heaven! Let's embrace this truth and live in the fullness of His kingdom, knowing that we are each a vessel or living conduit through which heaven comes to earth. Love God! Love others! Kingdom come!
