Inside Tithe.ly: Dean Sweetman, CEO and Co-Founder
Meet our fearless CEO and co-founder: Dean Sweetman!
Hi, y’all!
I’m excited for you to meet Dean Sweetman—Tithe.ly’s CEO and co-founder.
Dean is a leader, team builder, and product and new business developer. According to our Aussie team members, he’s also a “legend.” (For our non-Australian readers and customers, that’s a compliment. 😉)
Before starting Tithe.ly, Dean was a pastor for more than 30 years. During this time, he and his family planted churches all over the world. In 1996, they moved to Atlanta, GA, and started C3 Church Atlanta with over 2,500 members.
In 2014, Dean stepped down from full-time ministry to pursue his call of helping churches increase giving.
Recently, I asked Dean a few questions to get to know him better and share them with you.
Q: What does a typical day at Tithe.ly look like for you?
A: Staying focused on the big picture, talking to investors, keeping in touch with key management, and being all-round chief cheerleader.
Q: What’s the best part about working at Tithe.ly?
A: The people, the product, and the mission. The best part about my job, specifically, is working with people with passion.
Q: When did you realize Tithe.ly would be an epic place to work?
A: Day one. :)
Q: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned with building Tithe.ly?
A: Don't underestimate; dream bigger.

Q: How did you become a Christian?
A: I joined a Christian surfing group in 1981.
Q: Not including Tithe.ly (shameless plug), what is one must-use app or tool for church leaders?
A: A Bible app.
Q: What’s your definition of success?
A: Continually growing as a follower of Jesus and inspiring those closest to me to live life to the fullest.
Q: Who is a role model that you look up to?
A: Both of my sons!
Q: If you could give your 18-year-old self a piece of advice, what would it be?
A: Think bigger.
Q: What's something a lot of people don't know about you?
A: My first 10 years of ministry were spent in underdeveloped countries like Rawanda, Uganda, Barundi, Sri Lanka, India, and Cambodia—just to name a few.

A: All the good stuff from Delirious.
Q: Ok just for fun—a few favorites: What’s your favorite book? Movie trilogy? Board game?

Q: What Bible verse has helped you through tough times?
A: Romans 8:28: “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (ESV).
